How long-term collaboration has helped local management

The Great Southern Reef rivals the Great Barrier Reef for beauty, biodiversity, and the fisheries it supports. Yet it is relatively little known despite being located in a climate change hot spot. The preservation of species within the Great Southern Reef are more important than ever with waters off south-east Australia heating more quickly than elsewhere due to climate change, this precious ecosystem is under threat.The ATRC has been monitoring sites within the Great Southern Reef since the early 1990s, continued collaborative efforts are required to ensure the Great Southern Reef's uniqueness and high endemism is preserved for years to come.
